The Catholic Home Education Awards are a new initiative by the Order of the Knights of Saint Columbanus, Council 3, to get home-educated children involved in their Faith in a creative and fun way while also connecting home-educating families through this friendly competition.

What are the Categories?

Children and teenagers can enter the awards through one of the following categories:
Arts and Crafts – examples: a picture, icon, woodwork, embroidery, etc.

Literature (English or Irish language) – examples: a short story, poem, etc.
Works must be typed and emailed. The word count for each category is as follows:
Age 6-9: under 2,000 words
Age 10-13: under 5,000 words
Age 14-18: under 7,000 words

What is the aim of the award?
The Catholic Home Education Awards have been established to encourage home-educated children in a love of their Faith, through a creative and fun competition that will also create a bigger sense of community among home-educated families through the awards.

When is the deadline and how can I send in my child’s work?
The deadline for receiving entries will be 20th May 2021.

The Arts and Crafts awards will be judged through photographs sent via the email above, but contestants must also bring their work to the awards ceremony.

When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced at the award ceremony held in the Church of the Immaculate Heart, Belfast, on 5th June 2021. More details of this award ceremeny will be sent to those who have sent in an entry.

Who is organising the awards?
The awards are being organised by the Order of the Knights of St. Columbanus, Council 3, with the aim of “Restoring All Things in Christ” for those home-educating their children.
