From Sunday 4 to Monday 12 October 2026, Newry Cathedral held a Novena to St Carlo Acutis under the title Growing in Faith. On each of the nine evenings a different speaker addressed the congregation, and a first-class relic of the saint was present at every Mass. Brothers of CK10 Newry were there in their robes, and on the closing night they assisted with the candlelight procession.

Nine speakers

Séamus Ong, musician and co-director of Carlo Acutis Ireland, opened the Novena on Sunday 4 October on the theme Called to Holiness. Through the week the congregation heard Ger Brennan, the Dublin senior football manager; Sr Karen Small, a Franciscan Sister of St Clare, on prayer and friendship with Jesus; Marie Patton on the Rosary; Fr Anthony Moffett, a priest of the Diocese of Dromore; Fiona McAlinden, Principal of Our Lady's Grammar School, Newry; Allen Jophin, a Newry medical student, on Technology for Good; and Fiona Rutherford. James Doran of Seapatrick Parish, Banbridge, gave the last talk on Monday 12 October.

St Carlo Acutis, the young Italian who used his gift for computers to spread devotion to the Eucharist, was canonised by Pope Leo XIV on 7 September 2025. Our thanks to Brother Jophin Joseph, CK10's Communications Officer, for the account and the photographs.
