Brian McCarthy

As Supreme Registrar of the Knights of Saint Columbanus, Brian McCarthy oversees various activities on the Supreme Executive to ensure the register of members is accurate. Functions include reviewing applications for long Service medals, Honorary Life Membership, Transfers and assisting Areas with Reception Ceremonies for Knights Elect.

Brian is a member of the Knights of Saint Columbanus, having joined CK90 in 2014. Brian served as Grand Knight of CK90 from 2015 to 2019, and during this period, 16 Knights were recruited. He was brought on as an additional member of the Council of Directors in 2016 and helped restore Area 6. Brian was elected as Area 6 Provincial Grand Knight for 2017 to 2020.

Brian was elected as Supreme Registrar in October 2020 and is relishing his new role in helping the Supreme Executive develop the Order. Brian is married to Siobhán, and they are the parents of 5 children.

Brian is a member of the Parish Council of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Limerick City and is a Parish representative on the Cill Rois Area Committee (3 parishes in the Diocese). Brian is one of 3 Order representatives on the Limerick Diocese John Paul 11 Steering Committee.   

Brian is very proud of Limerick rugby. A past Coach, Secretary, President and current Trustee of St Mary’s RFC. A member of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club and former Committee member of the Club.
